The Olympic Games 2012 is now upon us! Officially opened by the Queen – after her (!) dramatic jump out of a helicopter with James Bond – the opening ceremony went off with a hitch and was a spectacular event.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a major world event without a few security risks along the way – evacuations, jet fighters deployed and terrorism threats have all been flashed across our screens in the build up to the 2012 Olympics.
With the current terror threat level currently set at “substantial” in Britain, an extensive amount of risk assessment and threat analysis has played a major factor in the foundations of these games.
All eyes are now on security firm, G4S who have the contract for the bulk of Olympic security. Despite already coming under fire for admitting they did not have the manpower to cover the length of the games they have now confirmed they will engage the use of military personnel if required.
To all involved, we wish everyone a safe and risk-free Olympics! Let the games begin!
